Question by Glamour Jeans: If a recipe calls for oil in it to cook onions, can I skip it?
I found a recipe for spicy red lentil daal. It says to use a tbsp. of oil to cook onions, garlic, and ginger. Could I just skip that step? I want to get away from oil completely and find healthier ways to cook other than using oil. Will this affect the finished product though?

Glamor, why? One tablespoon of oil is not going to harm you. That onion, garlic and ginger need to be sauteed somehow, unless you use maybe butter.

I don’t like celery so please don’t include it.I brought yogurt and planning to buy Quaker oats granola bars.I am a full time college student and I am always on the run so snacks that are very convenient.I have the lunch and dinner part down pack just have difficulties with the snack part when I think of snacks I think of chips and any thing sweet although I don’t eat chips or a soda person I have problems with the sweets

Wheat Or White Bread?

Hi. My name is Rene with Reality of Aging. Today’s subject is going to be on brown rice or white rice. Which one is healthy for you?

First of all, I’d like to answer that question right off the bat. Neither is healthy for you. The simple fact of the matter is that both of them have starches in them. The white rice has starches, but it doesn’t have the husk over it. The brown rice has starches in the inside.

The very core of the actual rice is a starch and the husk is over it. That’s what makes it a brown rice.

So, that husk over the brown rice allows it to pass through your body much easier than, say, white rice which will go through your body. It becomes a paste and it’s a starch, and causes inflammation, causes you to be fat, and possibly give you diabetes, heart disease, and all those other nasty things that you get from starches.

But, the brown rice itself still has starches in it, so don’t make the mistake thinking that brown rice is healthier. Neither is healthy. One may be less damaging to you – the brown rice – because it has the husk over it, so it passes through your body.

But, outside of that, there’s nothing there. There is no benefit for having the starch in your body. The starch causes inflammation. It pollutes your body with inflammation. It causes an insulin spike. It causes your immune system to be broken down.

What can I tell you? Neither of these are good choices. If you want a good choice – broccoli; green vegetables.
