Whip Up Your Favorite Snacks With Favorite Healthy Snack Recipes

Some people try to avoid snacks as much as they can because of weight gain.  However, for most people, snack time is also part of their meal time as regular as breakfast or lunch.  Some can even do away with breakfast or lunch or even dinner but never snacks.  It keeps them going. It helps the person get rid of hunger and it should last  until the next meal. 

The important thing about snacks is it should be healthy. It does not mean that snack time  is a time when you can eat foods that are bad for you.  There are many healthy snack recipes that you can refer to when you need one. With snacks, you can only depend on yourself to make yourself a healthy one. Never rely on coffee shops, restaurants or even grocery stores for it. 

We all crave for pizza right? So why not make it healthy.  Here is an easy pizza recipe called Pita Pizza Salad.

You will be making use of the following ingredients:

4 whole wheat pita breads, halved
4 tablespoons prepared pizza sauce
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for garnish
8 large romaine leaves
1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1/4 cup sliced black olives
1/4 cup FAT free Italian dressing

Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Place pita halves directly on oven rack to toast, turning once, about 5 minutes.  Spread 1/2 tablespoon of pizza sauce inside each pita half.  Sprinkle 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese inside pizza halves.  Place two pita halves on each of four serving plates. Shred romaine leaves and place in a bowl of mushrooms, tomatoes, olives and dressing.  Toss gently. Stuff pita halves with salad. Garnish with remaining grated Parmesan cheese. 

Another perfect snack recipe is a heart-healthy cheese ball.  One of the expectations of snacks is it should be full of flavor.  It isn’t a snack when it tastes bland.

The recipe of a heart-healthy cheese ball:

8 oz. fat-free cream cheese, softened
8 oz. reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
3 or 4 green onions, chopped
low fat turkey or ham luncheon meat, chopped finely
Mrs. Dash seasoning
Pepper

Mix cream cheeses together in a bowl. Add green onion and luncheon meat to cream cheese. Sprinkle with Mrs. Dash seasoning and pepper to taste. Cover and chill for 1-2 hours. Shape into a ball. Serve with pita chips or wheat thins. (You may add additional things to this great cheese ball: olives, relish, or a little chopped mint; or roll it in some dill weed.
